American Gothic House Visitor's Welcome Center Eldon, Iowa |
Present the American Gothic House and the works of Grant Wood to the public in a satisfying and compelling way, encouraging increased site visitorship and reputation. Provide a park environment and site improvements that will serve as an interpretive and educational center to present the work of Grant Wood, with emphasis on the "American Gothic" painting and other related works, including the parodies that have been proliferated by others through the years. Also provide for the presentation and interpretation of the arts, music, and history of Wapello County and Southeastern Iowa, both in permanent and traveling exhibits. Provide facilities that can be marketed as a venue for educational, business, and social events, revenues from which will help support the site and its programs. Provide comfort station facilities for travelers. Provide an opportunity for the purchase of gifts and memorabilia relating to the site themes. |
