Bonnifields cabin is believed to be the oldest standing structure in Iowa. Built in 1838, it was originally located near Lockridge but was moved 8 miles west to Fairfield by the Old Settler's Association in 1907. At an 1839 meeting in the cabin the name "Fairfield" was chosen for the town. |
