Iowa Malleable Company Fairfield, Iowa The Iowa Malleable Iron Company was built circa 1904 and was the first iron foundry located between Chicago and Denver. Business reversals led to abandonment and deterioration until in 2003 it was sold to a contractor who immediately applied for a demolition permit. Prairie Architects and the Fairfield Historic Preservation Committee investigated alternative actions that would save significant portions of the complex. |
