Harlan-Lincoln House Mount Pleasant, Iowa |
Harlan-Lincoln House -- National Register Listed Mount Pleasant, Iowa Building assessment and Preservation Planning Recommendations and Adaptive Reuse Strategic Plan was produced by Prairie Architects, Inc. for Iowa Wesleyan College, owner of the National Register listed Harlan-Lincoln house, situated at the northern edge of the college campus in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Our recommendations and in-depth history of the project can be viewed in their entirety In summary, we recommend the rededication of the Harlan Lincoln House and grounds as a home for the Alumni of Iowa Wesleyan College, providing facilities suitable for receptions, dinners, and other social functions for both that group and the larger community. We believe that significant value could be derived from the thoughtful use of these facilities in support of the ongoing fund raising efforts. Our review of the historic record suggests that this would be a fitting use for the property, and that it would reflect well on the record of James Harlan and his spirited initiatives in service to the college. |
