Final Memorial Design |
The final Memorial design consists of a cast-in-place concrete base around the existing historic flagpole with inset bronze plaque and lighting. Original to the 1938 construction, the 35-foot tall flagpole is positioned on the center axis of the Bandshell, situated 126 yards to the east. It is noted in the National Register Nomination as a contributing element and acts as a formal counterpoint to the Bandshell. We believe this element was intended to lend definition to the east edge of the performance field. |
