Company Profile Prairie Architects... where architecture, history, and preservation technology meet. Thoroughly versed in the Secretary of Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, we have executed numerous historic preservation and adaptive reuse projects around the country, including over 60 National Register properties in our home state of Iowa. Our consulting work to the federal government during times of natural disasters has taken us to places where building systems have been stressed beyond all reasonable expectations and taught us lessons that will complement your attempts to understand, repair, and preserve your historic property. And our intimate knowledge of federal preservation law will help ensure that your federal funding sources are protected. All of our projects benefit from a deep respect for history. We bring the sensitivity needed to foster and preserve the original design intent embodied in historic properties and to preserve their ability to convey their historic significance. Our familiarity with archaic building technologies and our skill in construction forensic analysis ensure that the real problems are identified, and that appropriate corrective materials and methods are specified. Coupled with proven design ability and solid construction technology skills, we bring the knowledge and experience needed to help you get it right. Perhaps we'll even make history together. |
